DISCOVER RÜGEN

Historic seaside resorts, idyllic heathland or the dramatic cliffs: the island of Rügen certainly has no shortage of attractions! Our natural oasis Gustow is very quiet and tranquil, but is still not far from the island's attractions. The Hanseatic city of Stralsund, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is just 10 kilometers from Gustow. With its eventful history, unique location on the water and impressive brick Gothic buildings, you shouldn't miss this attraction that is known throughout Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania!

OUR NEIGHBORHOOD

If you want to leave the car behind for your holiday, we also have a number of attractions in the immediate vicinity that you can easily reach on foot or by bike.

Baden right next door

SANDY BEACH

There is a small beach right next to the natural harbor, which, with its fine white sand, is particularly suitable for families with children. The best thing: even in summer, this beach remains a real insider tip! You can reach the beach by land in about 1 kilometer - or by swimming in about 300 meters.

PLACE GUSTOW

The village of Gustow lies not far from our nature oasis, nestled in a hilly landscape. With 650 inhabitants, Gustow isn't a large town, but it still boasts some worthwhile shops – including an organic bakery and a food store with regionally produced food, both run by the association "Insel eV". This socio-ecological project in the rural southwest of Rügen supports people with disabilities and is committed to protecting and preserving nature and promoting the cultural development of the region. We think that's fantastic!

Stralsund Old Town

OCEAN MUSEUM

In the heart of Stralsund's historic old town, the newly redesigned German Oceanographic Museum awaits you with fascinating insights into the diversity of marine life. The modern exhibits vividly illustrate the close connection between humans and the ocean. In 31 aquariums, you can discover vibrant underwater worlds from the Caribbean, the Pacific, and the Indian Ocean.

Among the special highlights are the impressive "Caribbean Reef" aquarium with 800.000 liters of water, which can be admired on three levels, and the Maldives tank with its sea turtles. An exciting destination for the whole family – whatever the weather.

OCEANEUM

Embark on a fascinating journey through the underwater worlds of the northern seas at the OZEANEUM Stralsund. In 50 impressive aquariums, you'll encounter the inhabitants of the Baltic Sea, North Sea, and Atlantic Ocean up close. The 2,6 million liter "Open Atlantic" tank, where sharks, rays, and large schools of fish swim, is particularly impressive.

Another highlight is the penguin enclosure on the rooftop terrace, offering a magnificent view over the Strelasund. The "1:1 Giants of the Seas" exhibition, where life-size whales float above visitors, also provides moments of wonder. Recently, the immersive show "The World of Whales" has been added to the experience, making the visit even more impressive.
