Otters frolic on the stone pier of the water holiday world and under the terraces of the shore houses. Grey seals hunt in the harbor basin during the winter months. Swans breed right on the jetty of the floating houses.
This rare, water-loving species of marten feels very comfortable here. Attentive observers can occasionally see a whole family of these animals between the stones of our marina in Lauterbach.
Our green roofs provide the ideal environment for raising young seagulls. For several years now, more and more seagulls have been breeding on the green roofs of the stilt house suites in the water holiday world in Lauterbach.
In addition to the bird of prey that gave our Lauterbach restaurant its name, Rügen is home to a wealth of fascinating bird species, especially waterfowl. It is not unusual to see a heron on the railings of the floating houses.
In recent years we have seen an increasing number of grey seals in our Lauterbach harbor. This largest predator living in the wild in Germany goes fishing in the harbor during the cold seasons.
