Nature and Tourism in Harmony

The successful combination of nature, wildlife and tourism is particularly evident in the water holiday world and the natural oasis on Rügen. Otters frolic on the stone pier of the water holiday world and under the terraces of the shore houses. Grey seals hunt in the harbor basin during the winter months. Swans breed right on the jetty of the floating houses.

otter experiences

This rare, water-loving species of marten feels very comfortable here. Attentive observers can occasionally see a whole family of these animals between the stones of our marina in Lauterbach.

nursery on green roofs

Our green roofs provide the ideal environment for raising young seagulls. For several years now, more and more seagulls have been breeding on the green roofs of the stilt house suites in the water holiday world in Lauterbach.

Diverse bird life

In addition to the bird of prey that gave our Lauterbach restaurant its name, Rügen is home to a wealth of fascinating bird species, especially waterfowl. It is not unusual to see a heron on the railings of the floating houses.

The Return of the Grey Seals

In recent years we have seen an increasing number of grey seals in our Lauterbach harbor. This largest predator living in the wild in Germany goes fishing in the harbor during the cold seasons.

The rich wildlife in our area is a testament to the successful coexistence of nature and tourism. We are proud to offer our guests the opportunity to experience these unique sightings up close.
