princely residence and port city
Putbus, the "white city of the north," has captivated visitors to Rügen for centuries – including famous artists and royalty. It was Prince Malte who realized his dream of a neoclassical residential town with a large English landscape park here. Culture enthusiasts, in particular, will find plenty to enjoy: whether in the historic theater, the orangery, or the gallery at the Circus. The district of Lauterbach, with its harbor and the Kaiser Wilhelm Bath, was once a popular meeting place for European high society. Beyond the Goor bathhouse begins the almost untouched nature of the Goor Forest, with its magnificent walking trails and the Path of Leisure and Insight.
